Passover Legends

Spring is also the season when Passover is celebrated for about a week with festive meals, prayers and stories.  Hard boiled eggs represent part of the holiday offering that is the symbol of the festival sacrifice offered at the Temple in Jerusalem.  Eggs symbolize joy, rebirth, hope and are eaten on the first day of Passover.

Seder, is a traditional Jewish feast served at the beginning of Passover.  The Seder ritual involves story telling by family or communities.  The Seder is based on the Exodus from Egypt and the command that the stories are retold.  There are also special Passover songs and symbolic foods.

There are numerous ways families enjoy their hard boiled eggs, some chop and mix them with salt water, others eat them plan and some are served before the fish as an appetizer.  Pesach is the Hebrew translation of the Latin word Pasha, which means Easter.  The egg is also part of the Passover tradition.

While the Jewish traditions don't include Chocolate Bunnies and chocolate eggs, as part of the Seder the conclusion is enjoyed by eating Chocolate that is  Kosher for Passover.  The Seder Chocolates can be light or dark but can't contain any corn syrup or lecithin, which is a  Soy  based waste product, sadly found in almost all packaged foods and drinks.  Flour is also strictly forbidden, unleavened cakes, brownies are eaten to remember their ancient freedom flight when there wasn't time for breads to rise.

Passover  Chocolates  often include Kosher dairy, raisins, dried fruit, nuts and even Chocolate dipped Matzo bread.  Celebrate your heritage and share the ancient traditions that connect generations.  More often today there are intermarried families of different faiths learning to celebrate and integrate different traditions into their lives.
